Industry Facts & Standards
- AGVs follow fixed guidance such as magnetic tape, QR codes, wires or reflectors, so a route change means changing the floor infrastructure
- AMRs use LiDAR, cameras and SLAM to map the building and re-route around obstacles, so route changes are a software setting
- ISO 3691-4 is the reference safety standard for driverless industrial trucks and applies to both AGVs and AMRs
- Connecting vehicles to the warehouse or MES software is what turns transport into real-time inventory
